Holocaust survivor Goldie Lefkowitz at July Shabbat Services

Kona resident and Holocaust survivor Goldie Lefkowitz will speak at this month’s Shabbat. The 96-year-old will share her vivid recollections of growing up in Germany as the Nazis rose to power and how her family escaped on the eve of Kristallnacht.
Aviva Plaut and Vic Greenspan will read from torah portion Va’et chanan (Deuteronomy 5:1-6:25) which includes Moses presenting the Children of Israel with the Ten Commandments along with the Shema and V’ahavta, vital elements of daily prayer.
Following services stay for kiddush and kibbitz at a potluck oneg. If you can, please bring a dish to share, but no pork or shellfish. Members and visitors are always welcome.
