Shalom & Aloha,
It has been an momentous month for us here on Hawai’i Island. As the eruption event continues to disrupt lives in Puna, the generosity of the KBS ohana has been heartwarming – a mechayeh. With the help of our Bikur Cholim committee members Alice Bratton and Nella Silverman, we identified “Neighborhood Place of Puna” to receive the first donation from the newly established KBS Eruption Emergency Fund. Along with its family-centered programs, Neighborhood Place of Puna is very actively involved with county agencies in the shelter & relief efforts. Thanks to all who have contributed and our support is still urgently needed. The Eruption Emergency Fund donation page is ready for your participation on the KBS website.
Our shabbat services this month at Hawaiian Queen Coffee Garden in Kona are on Saturday May 19, one week earlier than usual, with Rabbi Daniel Lev coming over from O’ahu to lead a full weekend including torah studies and observance of Shavuot. See the calendar under the Events menu on the KBS website for schedules, locations and other details. We hope you can join us for some or all of the events.
Watch your email for the May newsletter. Editor Alysa Freeman welcomes your comments and items to be included.
Shabbat shalom, mahalo nui loa & see you next weekend.
