Our regular monthly shabbat service will be held Saturday morning March 25th at our home in the Shops at Mauna Lani. This month we are fortunate to have Shari Berman, a past president of the congregation and superb cantorial soloist and layner (torah reader) leading the service. Vic Greenspan and Aviva Plaut will join her in reading from Parshat VaYak’hel/Pekudei, where, among other themes, Moses reiterates the commandment to observe Shabbat and the detailed description of the construction of the tabernacle. The people donate the gold, silver, copper, blue, purple and red-dyed wool, goat hair, spun linen, animal skins, wood, olive oil, herbs and precious stones necessary for the job. The significance of this Shabbat is that it precedes the month of Nisan, when we celebrate Pesach. Nisan is the first calendar month and the New Year for kings and festivals.
Kiddush to follow after services. Please bring a little potluck nosh to share (NO pork or shellfish, please).
We would love to see you there! Kona Beth Shalom welcomes all who wish to strengthen their connection to Judaism.
