Our next Second Saturday Torah Study will be Saturday, July 9 at the home of Aviva and Yehuda Plaut (81-6640 Aolani Place, Kealakekua). Study begins at 10:00AM, ends around noon and is followed by a potluck lunch (no pork or shellfish, please!).
The week’s parashah is Korach (Numbers 16:1-18:32) which features a dramatic revolt in the wilderness against commandments of G-d as conveyed by Moses and Aaron. The destruction of the rebels and their families – swallowed up by the Earth and consumed by fire – provides a vivid cautionary tale and has inspired many interpretations.
The study is group-led and no knowledge of Hebrew or previous study is necessary. Please bring your own tanach or print out a copy of the weeks parashah from one of the many versions available online. No one version is preferred and a variety adds to interesting discussion.
We look forward to seeing you at Saturday Torah Study to deepen understanding of our Book and its relevance to our Judaism.
