When Cantor Jack Chomsky and attorney Susan Gellman retired from Ohio to Israel in 2020, they had no
idea their Tel Aviv apartment would be just steps from the epicenter of massive weekly demonstrations sparked by the government’s proposed judicial reforms. The couple has been attending these historic gatherings since the beginning, almost a year ago. On September 18, 2023, while in Hawai`i for Kona Beth Shalom High Holiday services, they led a spirited and informative discussion about the politics and potential impact, with insight and information rarely found in mainstream news reports about the protests.
