Simchat Torah Gathering for Peace & Unity

The surprise attack by Hamas against Israel on the eve of Simchat Torah has escalated into a deadly shooting war. Hundreds of Israelis and Palestinians are dead, hundreds more wounded and, in an especially disturbing development, Hamas swept up dozens of IDF soldiers and Israeli citizens, abducting them to Gaza as hostages.
As the nation swiftly moved to protect its population, across Israel services for Simchat Torah were canceled. The fact that our friends and families there were unable to mark this annual celebration of the Torah makes especially important that we gather to raise our voices in prayer and song – renewing the annual cycle of Torah reading and also calling for peace, unity and a quick end to the violence.
