KBS Book Club Features I.B. Singer’s “The Slave” in February

February 15, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

slave_singerAfter a brief delay, the KBS Jewish Book Club begins the new year with a modern classic by Nobel laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer, “The Slave,” first published in 1962. Set in 17th-century Poland it tells the story of a Jewish slave who falls in love with a gentile peasant: a story of forbidden passion in an era of political upheaval and violent pogroms. Trina Yerlick moderates the discussion and all are welcome  …even if you haven’t yet read the book. We meet at Kona Coffee Haven, on Alii Drive next to the volleyball court.

Looking ahead, the book for March is “My Promised Land” by Ari Shavit and April’s session will take up “Constantine’s Sword.” Check the website regularly for more details and updates!
