Second Saturday Torah Study For March

March 11, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

The Second Saturday Torah Study this month is at the home of Louise and Marvin Feldman in Captain Cook. The week’s parashah is Tetzaveh (Exodus 27:20-30:10) which includes detailed instructions for the ceremonial garments to be worn by Aaron as kohen hagadol (high priest) and the week-long initiation of his sons in the priesthood.

This shabbat preceding Purim also includes a maftir reading of Zachor (Deuteronomy 25:17-19), fulfilling the commandment to remember the Amalekite attack on the Israelites in the wilderness after leaving Egypt. Tradition holds that Haman, the villain of the Purim story, descended from Amalek. Study begins at 10:30AM, ends around noon and is followed by a potluck lunch (no pork or shellfish, please!).

The study is group-led and no knowledge of Hebrew or previous study is necessary. Please bring your own tanach or print out a copy of the week’s parashah from one of the many versions available online. No one version is preferred and a variety adds to interesting discussion.

We look forward to seeing you at Saturday Torah Study to deepen understanding of our Book and its relevance to our Judaism.

Please RSVP via email to lfeldman@hawaii.rr.com
