Celebrate Passover with Kona Beth Shalom via Zoom
The Torah tells us “You shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread” (Exodus 34:18) and for years the KBS ohana has shared the mitzvah with a community seder on the first night of Passover. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions and the continuing need to protect the health and safety of our community, we hope you will understand and support our choice to have a virtual seder, connecting all of our homes via the modern technology of Zoom to celebrate the ancient Passover rituals.
Once again this year, Aviva and Yehudah Plaut have graciously offered to lead the seder, expanding their own family table to welcome KBS members, friends and guests from Hawai`i Island to the Mainland and around the world. The seder will be Saturday evening March 27th (Hawai`i time) and in the coming days we will post more details here on our website and also in messages to the KBS email list. To make it the most inclusive virtual seder possible, we hope you will add your own family traditions and participate in readings or lead prayers and songs. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to share your suggestions and the Plauts will get back to you as they plan the seder.
As you stock up on matzo, gefilte fish, macaroons and other Pesach needs, think about another mitzvah: supporting those in our community still struggling to make ends meet in these difficult times. Please consider making a contribution – or continuing contributions – to support the vital work of the Hawai`i Food Basket here in Kona and across Hawai`i island.
