Shabbat Service – Vayishlach

December 14, 2024 @ 10:30 am - 1:30 pm

Our Shabbat service this month is on the second Saturday. Join with us for the service led by Aviva Plaut and featuring readings from this week’s Parashah, Vayishlach (B’reisheet/Genesis 32:4-36:43), which includes several key events in the life of patriarch Jacob: while preparing for a reunion with his estranged brother Esau, Jacob spends a night wrestling with a “man” (or, perhaps, an angel), who changes his name to Israel; after Jacob’s daughter Dinah is raped, her brothers lead a murderous spree against all the men of Shechem and plunder the city; a 12th son, Benjamin, is born to Jacob’s favorite wife Rachel, and she dies in childbirth. Isaac dies and is buried in Hebron. We’ll also look forward to the upcoming Chanukah holiday.

Afterward, stay for a Kiddush & Kibbitz potluck. If you can, please bring a dish to share (but no meat or shellfish). If you are unable to attend in person, the service will also be live-streamed via Zoom and on the KBS Facebook page. Zoom connection information will be provided via email.
