“The Seven Species” by Alex Levin (Ukraine/Israel)
In Eikev עֵקֶב (“As a Result”), Devarim/Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25 Moses recounts events that happened in the wilderness, including the manna, the golden calf incident, and the death of Aaron. There is a listing of the “seven species” – agricultural products that will have special significance when the Israelites cross over to their promised land. And Moses describes the blessings God will bestow upon the Israelites if they follow God’s law and the punishments they will encounter if they disobey.
We’ll read and discuss parasha Eikev on Zoom. No prior knowledge is necessary and we welcome a wide range of viewpoints.
